One pronounced dead after vehicle extracted from Colorado River

Colorado State Patrol has confirmed that one person has died after a vehicle was extracted from the Colorado River Monday afternoon around 4 p.m.

The vehicle crashed into the river off of I-70 Friday, November 22 in the De Beque Canyon around 11:00 p.m.

The vehicle was towing a trailer, which disconnected from the vehicle and stayed on the roadway.

Crews have been working to extract the vehicle since the incident, but local Search and Rescue Teams were unable to contact the vehicle on Saturday.

Additional crews arrived on Monday to aid in the recovery of the vehicle and body.

The identity of the person has yet to be confirmed.
